IWhimsical Phantasmagoria (2024-2025) by Vini Whipple (Goblin Brain Oddities) is a collection of archival ink drawings inspired by traditional surrealist, occultist, and esoteric artistic compositions. The works in this series offer a look into the artist’s concept of a surrealistic world plagued by a mix of whimsy and eldritch horrors. Distinguished by bold contrasts and sharp, swirling lines, the artist portrays her strange idea of the various creatures and people that inhabit a land full of wonder. From the enigmatic being escaping from its tomb in “The Ill-Starred Deception” to “The Clairvoyant/Keeper of the Keys” whose single eye oozes from its chest cavity: these bizarre works intend to captivate (and possibly confuse or unsettle) the viewer, making them question why something is the way that it is.

Vini Whipple is a self-taught artist from Saratoga Springs, New York. Glimmerwake/The Anachronism has graciously given her the opportunity to hold her second solo art show, and first to be held in New York City.
