“It is a great misfortune to be alone, my friends; and it must be believed that solitude can quickly destroy reason.”

~Jules Verne

“With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?”

~Oscar Wilde

The Anachronism also promotes this single, simple idea:  Steampunk is still being created.  All of us are creating it, now, together; it’s not pre-made, it’s not something that comes to us from other people or from the past.   We can build the Steampunk we want–

so we say, build a Steampunk that includes everyone who wants to be a part of it!   Build one that’s friendly and open for all!

The “Steampunk For Everyone” idea was originally created “to respond to the fact that it’s rather hard to find Steampunks of color, or queer Steampunks, and we’d love to have more of both.”   But it also means that we want to create a Steampunk where everyone feels welcome – where we don’t say, “You can’t be part of this, that’s Gothic/Renfaire/Rocky Horror/geeky/fantasy, not Steampunk!”  Instead, we want to say,

“Hey, come on in, the aether’s nice and warm!”

The photograph at the top of this page is by the very talented Anna Fisher; it’s of the amazing Lawrence Gullo and Fydor Pavlov, the Royal Baritarian Players.
